“This year has shown the great importance of joint work and focused dialogue with all the stakeholders who can actually influence decision making in the country.”
Sincerely,
Graham Tiley
Chair, Chamber Board of Directors
Dear Readers,
It is my honor to address you as the Board Chair of the American Chamber of Commerce – the organization that has for 23 years been the voice of the international business community in Ukraine, a reliable partner to a wide variety of stakeholders engaged in moving the country’s economy forward and a driver of positive change in the business environment.
2015 has been truly tough for business in Ukraine, but has again proven that challenging times open up new windows of opportunities. We have reached a new level of dialogue involving genuine reformers in Government, international partners, NGO’s and business. Furthermore, we have seen this dialogue translated into action in the form of reforms. As business we are impatient about the pace of reform but 2015 has given many examples of what can be achieved when business, Government and other stakeholders cooperate and conduct an action-oriented dialogue.
So I am proud to have served as Board Chair of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine – the organization that is actively involved in driving the reform process forward, sharing expertise, offering solutions and spreading the word about Ukraine in the international arena in many high quality events.
To name just a few, the First U.S. – Ukraine Business Forum in Washington, the International Support for Ukraine Conference, and the Kyiv International Economic Forum; all are examples of the Chamber’s proactive involvement and support in helping attract new investment to Ukraine.
This year the American Chamber of Commerce has a new, charismatic leader who received a very warm welcome from the business community and stakeholders in the Government – my fellow UK citizen, with an international business background and a big Ukrainian heart, Andy Hunder. So now I encourage you to check this report and see what great things the American Chamber of Commerce has accomplished in 2015 under the leadership of Andy.
Much work has been done, but our plans remain very ambitious and focused on enhancing Ukraine’s business climate and ensuring a better and brighter future for our members, this wonderful country and its people.
Sincerely,
Graham Tiley
Chair, Chamber Board of Directors
“Leading by example seems one of the trendiest and wisest approaches to the whole concept of leadership. And we as the business community are ready and able to be this leadership example and show Ukraine’s key decision makers a way to a better and brighter future, driving reforms and progress for the whole country.”
Sincerely,
Andy Hunder
President
American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine
Dear Members and Friends,
2015 was my first year as the President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine and I am delighted to share with you my first feedback on what has been done and what is yet to be achieved.
Business is about setting SMART goals and reaching (or exceeding) them, then setting new ones and moving forward. It is always important to set those goals, as well as to understand where we are in terms of achieving them.
For the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine, this yearend is an opportunity to identify our status on the progress of moving towards our ultimate goal – to make Ukraine a better place to live and do business.
In 2015 we refined our mission easily put into nine simple symbols - B2G, B2B & B2U, that is: B2G - Driving actionable dialogue between Business and Government; B2B - Continuously creating opportunities for Business to Business Partnerships; B2U - Promoting Ukraine internationally as an attractive investment destination.
The conditions are fast changing and not as predictable, as we would like them to be. Still, we are optimistic and persistent in working towards reaching our goals.
Where are we now as the business community united by the Chamber? This report will be your key to answering this question.
How fast are we moving? Internally, the pace is high and the commitment of our Members is impressive. Externally, in terms of reforms process, there is still much room for improvement.
During my first year as President of the Chamber I have often been invited to participate in discussions on what leadership is and how important it is for Ukraine to find the new generation of leaders for the country to become successful. Leading by example seems one of the trendiest and wisest approaches to the whole concept. And we as the business community are ready and able to be this leadership example and show Ukraine’s key decision makers a way to a better and brighter future, driving reforms and progress for the whole country.
How do we make it happen? To get an answer to this question, I invite you to check out our Annual report.
With my sincere warmest regards,
Andy Hunder
